Massage Therapy

One of the most ancient healing therapies, massage is one of the simplest and most natural forms of bodywork. To hold or rub an injured part is an instinctive reaction to pain or discomfort.

Massage, applied skillfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.

Sports Massage / Deep Tissue Massage

You don’t have to be an exercise fanatic or an elite athlete to qualify for sports massage. Those who suffer from postural related tension, i.e. sitting badly at a desk in font of a computer all day long or daily driving, will also benefit from regular deep tissue massage.

General benefits of massage are:

  • Release of tension, aches and stiffness in the muscles promoting feelings of wellbeing.
  • It can ease pain and bring relief to a range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Stimulates blood circulation and lymph flow improving the oxygen supply to organs, joints and tissues so that they work more efficiently.
  • Encourages the removal of toxins and waste products from the body tissues.
  • Promotes deep relaxation, which can aid in the recovery from stress related illnesses and aids sleep.
  • Helps to release blocked energy thereby bringing balance and harmony to the mind, body and spirit.

In addition, sports massage is used to:

  • Relax and stretch muscles.
  • Accelerate muscle recovery from exertion.
  • Restore suppleness, elasticity and mobility after injury.
  • Flush out toxins that cause muscle stiffness and soreness.
